Hello  :smt006

I’m in SoCal, but check on your forum often. This is probably one of the best forums I’ve seen. Good job on the organization!

This is my 10th year fishing from a kayak.

I’ve spent a lot of time away from home chasing fish throughout many states; creeks/rivers to bays and offshore. Being back home, I’m looking forward to targeting my favorites; WSB, YT, Hali, Ling, Cudas, and the different bass.

One of my most memorable trips was on a charter in SoCal back in the mid to late 90’s. We were 7-8 miles offshore and spotted a lone kayak angler fishing where this captain decided to drop anchor.

When asked about his catch, he held up a huge WSB, 2 YT, and a Cuda. While his catch was impressive, I also though “he’s crazy being out here in that little thing”.

Years later, I’m one of the crazies.  :smt003

Thanks for having me.

Welcome

I grew up in Santa Monica and fished many weekends at Venice Pier.
Last weekend I was at La Jolla YT fishing with Sea Samurai.  Landed 3 YT.
Looking forward to hoop netting lobster soon.
Hope to do some fishing with you in SoCal...
I spend 1/2 of my weekends at Diamond Bar.

I can relate to that. Welcome to the board.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

BigJim <— I wonder if that’s the spearfishing legend?  :smt003

123Engineering: that poor has been around forever. I remember fishing from it as a kid with an uncle. I never met Sea Samurai, but I hear he’s the man down in LJ. Congrats on the 3 YT, sounds like he had you in the right place at the right time. I’m interested in lobster too.

I’m down to one yak and it isn’t sea worthy so as soon as I snatch up a kayak I’ll be ready for a trip.

Nowhereman: I figured someone may be able to relate!  :smt002

tehpenguins: thanks! It’s hard writing an intro, but I think the forced intro is great for a forum. I’ve joined a lot in the past, lurked for a bit, then forgot about them completely.

Tehpenguines I’ll definitely post some too.  You hit the nail on the head, looking for a salt kayak. Thought I had one, but this weekend’s 2018 turned into a 2011 after seeing the serial.  :smt012

Currently looking for a surf launcher...trident 15 or something similar with internal storage. The Hobie will come late fall or winter.

First the kayak, then I have to see what’s going on down this way. It’s seems really quiet above LJ to at least Malibu.
