I would fill-up the new reel,  then feed this line onto another reel that has the line counter to find out the footage, now reel the line back to the new reel  :smt003

I would get a 12-inch wooden school ruler, and measure each foot individually before I reeled it on.

this is how I do it. I like to mark each foot of braid individually ( I can write very small) so that I'm sure I have exactly 823 feet of braid.
Then I tie a 7 foot topshot.

Get enough line to tie 437 tamales with then splice them back together you should be good to go.  :smt028

Count the knot bumps as you reel in and you'll know exactly how much you have "one tamale, two tamale, three tamale".....until you get to 437.  :smt001

Then I tie a 7 foot topshot.

How do you measure the top shot?

I tried this earlier... took FOREVER!
Not to mention all the tangling as I switch between ruler and reel..
Maybe it's because I used a plastic ruler?

NOW, I want to fish with you!

Might have to bestow a new handle though...
