There's only the stairwell and that escape hatch.  I had that bunk on one trip.
The ONE thing I keep asking is where was the crewman who should have been on watch?    He has just ONE JOB thru the long morning hours...  monitor the generator, boat activities while at anchor.

All the passenger bunks are below deck. If you see the diagram the only exit is the stairs up that lead to the galley

I've been on a lot of boats over the years and can't remember exactly but I think there is a hatch above one of the bunk beds that leads to the galley.

I remember vaguely someone pointing it out to me that was sleeping in one of the adjacent bunks. It may have been on the Conception, Vision or Truth. They were all pretty similar boats though. So you would think all of them would have similar hatches?

Truth Aquatics always had a safety briefing before diving on any of their boats. I don't recall ever being told about the hatch though during those briefings.

Thank God! The last body was recovered and the boat has been raised and relocated to land for further investigation.

May all 34 divers lost RIP.  :smt010

        Of course they're going to say,,,   " Not guilty "  .         :smt011
Anyone who's ever been on watch at 3 am knows how easy it is  " to just close your eyes for a minute,,,"
If it were the military , that's a serious offense.    This is even more serious.  The captain himself should bear some responsibility .  His job is to ensure his crew is doing their job.
