Hey Ya'll,

My bf and I are new kayak to ocean fishing, though my bf has grown up fishing Nor Cal lakes and rivers in the Sierras, and I grew up catfishing on the delta. I am from the East bay, bf is from Paradise, but we now live in the SC mountains. We recently fished New Brighton, about a 1/2 mile north from the beach, and caught a nice black rockfish and a modest (and delicious!) halibut. We were using a combo of squid jigs and live squid bait. It was a sharky day =)

We are both excited to learn from all of you, and are stoked to be here!

Warmly,

KAJ

Hi there, I’m new here, too. And new to kayak fishing. I seem to catch a lot of sharks, too. Any advice for avoiding them?

I could be wrong but I think “sharky” meant white sharky due to the area, maybe they caught a mess of dogfish and leopards but I’m not sure...if you’re fishing sfbay the sharks love that squid.  Stay off the squid, stay off the bottom, if you found the sharks then they might be your only game that day...who knows... :smt006
