Good luck Paul. I think most people are going to be at Albion for the tournament.

I might be out there Friday morning with my buddy Simon, unless I can talk him into going to Navarro instead. Kinda want to try for salmon there, but it's not nearly so easy as a RG launch.

Saturday we have company and Sunday I have a radio show, so the weekend is shot for me.

I will have my VHF radio set at CH69.
Typically we fish south of the cove.

There are salmon out of Russian Gulch too! Im a very slim maybe on Friday morning but will probably have to stay closer to home on the Sonoma coast.

Are you talking about the Russian Gulch that's about 7 miles north of Jenner?  I think there's one further up too.  I used to camp at the one by Jenner back in the 70's and caught lots of greenling's off the beach. Haven't been there in 20 years.  Can you get a yak down there very easily?

I am talking about the Russian Gulch just south of Fort Bragg, near Van Damme.

It's a long haul with a yak, particularly if it is a heavy one. Best path is down the creek bed, not the trail,  to the beach. Need a flat ocean for launch/landing there. Even medium size swells make it a bear to land on the beach .

I think the "it's along haul with a yak" is referring to the RG in Sonoma County.

The distance from the lot to the water at RG in Mendo is 100-150 yards and the cove is well protected in most normal swell directions. At high tide, you can often float your yak a lot of the way to the beach area in the lil creek.

Most NW swell that you'd be willing to be out in is not going to adversely affect the beach launch/land there, IME.
