Decided to try Santa Cruz this past Saturday and ended up meeting a fellow kayaker at the harbor.  After quick introductions we hit the water and enjoyed a very glassy cruise out to the red buoy.  We didn't hit anything big but there were a few rockfish around.  Around noon, the wind picked up and pretty much left the bay to the sailboats.

Talking to the DFG warden at the docks who was checking ice boxes, he said he saw 4 nice salmon that day.  I had a handful of rockfish for tacos that night.

If you are newish to kayaking on the ocean, Santa Cruz is a good goto spot!  Longish but easy paddle/pedal.

I was out of the harbor Saturday, too. Got a big ling and that’s it. But I’m happy to add a few more fillets to my freezer. Maybe I’ll see you out there next time!

Hey Zipper.  I'll take you up on it.  That work thing has me for a few weekends but I'll hit you up with a PM in a bit!
