Often depends on what type of breakfast was eaten.  Bowl of cereal all day ,breakfast burrito with chorizo maybe 4 hours . Late night of drinking and Andy Morales cooking 2 hours top. :smt005
ohhh... no chorizo for me... :smt009
No wonder no one like to go yakfishing w/ me... :cry3

Definitely species dependent and Ithink I did 15-16 hours once. I have a boat now so it's easier -- but AI is somewhat similar.

For my guided trips 4 hours is the minimum we should get to fish.  6 to 7 is average, and 8 is pretty common.  Sometimes we stay for up to 10 if the water's really nice, but not if I am fishing the next day.

The problems for me come on my "day off" from guiding.  I am usually pretty laid back, but I get sucked in to trying to drum up some nice catches for marketing purposes.  Spent more than 10 hours a couple weeks ago and it was quite a burn.  Good problem to have.   :smt001

Being out in a strong current or wind usually limits a trip to 6 hours, but a bite late in the session can change all of that and keep you at it.

Paddling a yak is basically like walking - you need to be able to do it all day if you want to do well at the sport.  Sometimes you need to 'jog' and sometimes you need to 'sprint' for a bit - you always need to be able to keep paddling.

I notice my recovery time is not what it once was.

9 hours is not unusual but I don’t recover near as fast. I am asleep before the gear if clean and end up with a chore the next morning. 4-5 hours seems like the sweet spot with being able to get all the cleanup done and still being effective the next day.

yeah, that's the thing that often gets forgotten is the next-day recovery. I've been guilty of leaving everything in the truck and the yak on the rack to clean the next morning after a long day. Except for my reels (gotta have some level of self respect)

Ocean if it’s calm enough and I didn’t have a lot of liquid in the am 4-5 hours, then I’m debating jump in and do the surfers relief in my wetsuit  :pottytrain3: . If it’s a little rougher out about an hour after I chum the water  :puke:  so 3-4. Lake 8-10 hours with some lunch on board and some standing and sight casting, bad hip and lower back.

I've been out of the water for almost 2 weeks now after throwing my back out pretty bad this time around. I literally read your comment with a TENS Unit pulsing on my spine... hahah what worries me most is I'm only 31 and I'm already thinking along those "continued existence" lines.  :smt010 :smt010 :smt010

A couple years ago I'd do 8 - 10 hours all the time.  Then my hips started bothering me.  Now I average around 4-5 hours.

best post ever.

For me right now, about 4 or 5 hours is good, but I'm horribly out of shape currently. When I'm in good paddling condition and the wind's not beating the hell out of me, being out for whatever available light there is isn't a big deal if I'm in a comfortable seat. If the wind kicks up to whitecap level, I'm heading back.

~6 hours has been my average paddling/peddling and I'm sure I could go out longer, once when the water and the fish were good was out there almost 8 hours, but even after the 6 hrs I'm contemplating that early afternoon nap after the rush of so much fun is over I crash hard which is about exactly how long it takes me to unload, wash, dry and make lunch.  but ~4 hours is pretty good where I can make it through a day of work after if I need to. (I work late )

the biggest thing that extended my fishing was the Hobie seat. my old kayak seat I was hurting after about 4.

About 5 hours.  SS is dying by this time and then there’s the loading and unloading at home.  Spraying down the gear, putting it away, and knowing I’ve still gotta walk the dogs and then usually cook dinner. 🙄
Oh yeah, I’ll need to set aside time for a couple beers 🍻.

Now if I were single.... who knows!?
We're gonna need a bigger boat!
