Okay, this is a followup to my previous post about the Rudder "Up" line locking in the cleat inside the boat.
So I managed to unscrew it and remove the pulley from the boat to take a look at it. Look at the picture. It clearly has some wear and I'm confident that replacing it would solve the problem. The only issue is I have no idea what this part is or where to order it.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Andrew

Wouldn’t any stainless pully do the job as long as you can attach it without creating a leak...

I don't know. These Hobie parts are pretty unique and positioned and shaped to fit in exactly one place. I imagine there would be other unforeseen issues if I tried a DIY fix with other parts.

The same thing happened to me!!!  Mine wore out in the same place yours did.  The kayak connection in SC ordered a replacement for me.  I'll see if I can find a receipt with part number.

Also, make sure your lines aren't twisted in the back.  Sometimes they twist and then you need to use more force to get the rudder up which then wears out the pulley you are replacing...

Thanks! I'm going to order 4 and probably replace all of them. I imagine the others might be having issues too.

My other ones were ok, but yeah wouldn't hurt to replace all

I'd probably confirm with a dealer that's the part, but I'm pretty sure

You can get a much better cheek block (Harken or Ronstan) at West Marine, probably for less than what Hobie will charge. But, of course, the holes won't line up, so if you want to keep it simple, best to order from Hobie...

There are stainless blocks that are combined with a piece that allows them to swivel so that the line runs straight to the pulley and doesn't chafe on the side of the block - but, finding one small enough and with the right size attachment holes could be a problem, and this stuff is justifiably known as "boat jewelry".

While youÂ’re at it, go ahead and replace those rusted out machine screws that held your block/pully in place. Mine looked similar to that for a while, then one of the heads snapped clean off.

I just brought them in to Ace Hardware and bought comparable stainless replacements for a few bucks and they’ve been fine ever since.

Word... owning a hobie is like buying a Ferrari... you have to go to the dealer for every little thing. And you can’t cheap out on hardware cause it’ll bite U in the ass later.  Glad it was something simple .

I thought you were going to say "like a Fiat" - The Click and Clack Bros used to say FIAT stood for "Fix It Again, Tony".
