I hope this information helps anyone shopping for a fish finder - for a Hobie before the latest models were available with the 'pocket' for the triple shot transducers.  I wanted one sonar/gps unit for two boats.  My Revo (2017) had a cheap fish finder that I found pretty worthless and my ProAngler had a Hook 5 with a sonar/downscan transducer. I went to Bass Pro and told the guy behind the counter what i wanted to do: I wanted the Lowrance Elite - but didn't want an 'external install for the triple shot transducer.  i just wanted the sonar/downscan transducer. He had no idea what I was talking about.

I went to Fisherman's Warehouse and spoke with Allen and he knew exactly what I needed and packed it all up in one box for me, ran the update for the unit, and sent me home with the whole deal ready to go.  Headwaters in Lodi installed it on the Revo.  They did a great job. (I think they're going to be my Goto kayak shop for now on even if it means driving from Davis to Lodi.) So... you can get the fancy touchscreen stuff with the right transducer for the older style Hobie's with the smaller built in pocket.

I also checked with Lowrance and found that the sonar/downscan transducer that came with my Hook 5 would work with the new Elite Ti2.  However the blue connector was different so i needed an adapter cable - which again Allen knew about at Fisherman's warehouse and had in stock. Had it out yesterday on Lake Berryessa and it works great. (My second trip with it - had it on Tomales Bay last week so I could see the fish I wasn't catching) The Elite actually seems more intuitive to operate than the Hook. And the fish reveal overlay on the downscan screen(s) are pretty neat.

The Elite does consume more power than the Hook so I will need to carry an extra battery or rig up some weird parallel battery contraption.  On Berryessa, the low voltage alarm came on at the 5 hour mark.

I'm enclosing a pic showing one of my kayak batteries with a full charge. I've also noticed there is a voltage drop right out the gate from the battery to the fish finder.  If someone has an idea if the battery in the pic is 'low' for a full charge let me know. I've also included a picture of the adapter cable.

Hopefully this helps anyone trying to figure out a new fish finder/GPS for an older Hobie.

Thanks for the write up, I've been wondering this exact same question, when I'm in the market for a new FF, I'll have to remember this thread.  and I guess Just go to Fisherman's Warehouse! Love that place.

I just bought the TI2 7" at Bass Pro and the transducer is way too big. Looks i will take it back and go talk to Allen. I have 2 Hobies. Can i get a transducer by itself? So i can move the ff between boats? I have a TI2 9" on a PB and love it!

It's kinda hard to tell whether a battery is bad or not from this voltage reading.
However I could tell you that your FF consumes about 1.24A.
Your battery is 9Ah, it does not have enough juice to run this FF for a full day.
Usually you don't want to run your battery down to low. You will need a bigger battery.
Oh, don't parallel an old battery to a new battery.

I think the voltages on the battery are for charging, not output.
Generally a fresh lead-acid or AGM battery will show around 13.5 volts at full charge. Anything over 12V will usually run your electronics. If the battery shows 12.6 V after being charged, it's losing capacity, but will still work for a while - just not as long as a fresh battery.

Chet is right, don't parallel a new battery to an old one. The old battery is the weak link and will just soak up part of the power from the new one. He's also right about the 9AH being just barely enough for a full day, even a fresh one likely would run your FF for about 7 hours.

I think you can buy just the transducer direct from Lowrance but I would go to Fisherman’s warehouse even if they have to order it for you. I’d rather pay a little premium and know I’m getting the right stuff.

Thank you.  I’ll be battery shopping this week. Probably going to  get a Nocqua 10ah.

I have a TI2 9" on my Hobie PA and love it. I was video game fishing today while drop shoting crickets to smallmouth at 14 feet. I have a 30 ah lithium ion and it will run it all weekend on a full charge no problem. Good write up.
Smoked carp tastes just as good as smoked salmon when you ain't got no smoked salmon.

Nocqua 10Ah is a good choice for lithium battery. In case you need a bigger Lithium, check out one of mine under sig, it beats in term of price and performance.
