Look at the Native brand as well and test them out first!!!! Different peddle styles, hobie straight pushes.... Native propel round peddling like a bike, works for my bad hip but the hobie actually hurts it. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!! If you were up here in “Not F’ed up California” I’d let you test my Mariner or Slayer!

that's a really good point, to try out the different pedal styles.

If you're looking to pedal I recommend putting plenty of consideration into the Outback or Revo.  ...

+1

Another thing to consider is that Hobies (new and used) hold their value. So, if you decide to sell later, you should get a reasonable price...

This is what I keep hearing. Currently, I'm looking at a Native Slayer Propel 10. Hobie is on my list as well.

Welcome. I’m new to kayakfishing also. Got the outback about 3 months ago. Have been out 5 or 6 times. Handled windy conditions better than I did. Still learning how to rig things cus I’m right handed but reel lefty. Have to say was a little heavy in the self rescue class but learned my go to techniques on self rescue. I figured pay a price one time for years of fun and so far am not disappointed. Good luck on your choice.

Where did you do a self rescue class? What was the cost?

Also be sure to have a vhf radio and some type of wetsuit if going in Bay or ocean.

I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos that state the same thing. Thank you for the words of wisdom.

I have a old town predator pdl.  It's a very nice kayak, but if I had to do over I would go with a Hobie as you sit lower making it more stable in the ocean and bays.

I am definitely considering a Native Slayer Propel 10. I am actually going out on Saturday to test out both the Slayer 10 and the Titan 10.5 at Headwaters. I am really excited that.

You'll love it. At least I did for a brief time I tried it. A friend of mine has one and I've heard nothing but good things about it from him.

10ft might be a bit short for the ocean.  I think most prefer 12ft or longer for open water. Maybe other's who have those particular yaks can chime in. If that's a concern, you might try some of the longer boats. I got a great deal on a new Manta Ray last year and it seems ok in the ocean.
