This news hit me hardest since we have a lot similarity. We were dive duddies and I happen to have a 4 years old and 12 months old.
I remembered vividly the day I met Rob at Coral st in Pacific Grove after a not so successful dive day. Each of us only brought a couple small rock fish.
We were so new to spearfishing and freediving. I think I was his 2nd dive buddy.
Rob was a great athlete and a nice person to hang around with.
He kicked my ass with just his snorkel fins.
One trip he forgot his fins and borrow tiny fins and had to dive without socks, still hitting the bottom without any issue. I really admired his ability.

Since then we had so many trips together.
I remembered talking with him about hunting for Trophy abalone. Picking him up at 4am at his home and drive to Sonoma county to search for the elusive 10” abalone.
That day each of us rewarded with a 10” abalone. We were proud. I took pic of him holding his catch (the pic in Gofundme).

Then we kept talking about going to look for halibut in Tomales bay. That hunt trip was amazing, we did not find any halibut but we caught some crabs barehanded. We brought a stove inside our kayak then We boiled those crabs on the beach and Rob said “wow this was really sweet” after his first bite.

We have so many trips together I could go on and on....
I miss diving and exchange texts with you.
I offer my sincere condolences to his wife and kids !!!

Hi everyone,

Jessica and her family are overwhelmed by your love, kindness, and generosity.

If you are interested in attending the memorial and celebration of life, please see the details below:

Memorial: Friday, June 21 at 12:30pm
Location: Coast Guard Island
1 Eagle Road
Alameda, CA 94501

Celebration of Life: Friday, June 21 at 3:00pm
Location: Lungomare Restaurant
1 Broadway
Oakland, CA 94607

IMPORTANT!! Please note that the family has asked that people dress casual. If you are a Coast Guard, you may come in uniform, but otherwise, Robert's wishes (and the family's wishes) were for people to dress casual (board shorts, flip flops, sun dresses, etc). Suits are not necessary.

ALSO IMPORTANT!! Please DO NOT wear spearfishing clothing or anything with spearfishing paraphernalia. The family does want you to share stories at the celebration of life, but they don't want to see spearfishing logos or images at this time.

Please fill out this Google form so we have your contact information and can update you with details: https://forms.gle/ZcJTeSChGB56grSV7

Here is a link to the Facebook event where we will post updates as well:

Thank you again.
