ray and i launched [my big boat 21'] out of san leandro at 6 am, pounded our way to op.  we trolled up 3 butts, the big one was 23".  the wind picked up some more so we went to the rockwall, trolled up 3 more, the big one was 24".   saw duane and matthew there as well as some other kayakers.  hung around until noon when it was all whitecaps, all the way home.  it felt good to catch 2 keepers in the sun today!

Halibut everywhere...  good catches!
Did you really have to use live bait?  I'm just wondering...
Did you see "insane" Duane out there?   Did Insane Duane and his friend catch anything?

I need to take-up KITE FYING :smt012

I was thinking of maybe trying to use one of those stunt kites as kayak wind power.  Maybe something like hitting up San Louis to try trolling under the power of a kite ;)  Wonder if that would work or if I would just end up in the drink, but sounds like fun!

Thx for the report, Chris.

Bob, my friend Monte, and I hit Berkeley on Saturday in Bob's boat.

We were drifting live chovies just North of the old pier pilings. We managed three scratched baits between us, three missing chovies, I missed one short run, and landed one EXACTLY 22" 'but that I released. All in about two hours of fishing before some technical difficulties forced us off the water.

Definitely a decent amount of halis in the bay right now.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
