"Mack Daddy" Freddie went savage on Tahoe mackinaws.  He caught two nice macks around 25" plus a nice rainbow.  Zilla scored a limit of macks and 4 bows.  I was hoping for a mack but was happy to score a scrappy rainbow just shy of 22".  We were drifting live minnows and suckerfish caught with traps.

It was the most gorgeous day on the lake.  No wind, sunny, warm, and the water was soooo clear.  Lots of Tahoe hardbodies all around.  Life is good. :smt003

Thanks to Zilla for hooking us up!!!

Looks like I will have to try to duplicate that performance tomorrow. Everything looks too nice not to give it a try.

We launched from the ramp on the north side around 5:30 and fished till noon.  We fished everywhere from 25 to over 200' deep.  Thin spectra helps!

I got off to a rocky start but, everything worked out great. Chucke and I got to TallyHo pretty early yesterday. Gave Zilla a 4:30am wake up call and off to unload our stuff. DOH!!! I forgot my paddle in my truck at Auburn. DAMN!!! Zilla to the rescue... since he only lives a couple of minutes away... BAM!!! Back with a spare paddle for me and off we went. YEAH!!! Zilla, thanks again for saving the day. We dropped out traps, BS'd a bit and after about a 10 minute soak... the minnows were ours... Baited up and we were fishing. Fishing was a little slow but, we all mananged to hook up. Zilla was the baby trout slayer of the day... so cool. Chucke pulled a typical "Clutch" manuever by hooking into a nice bow in the bottom of the ninth... again. He caught it as were heading in. I caught a couple of typical macks during the day and pulled in my first Tahoe Bow... the weather was great the company was better... all in all, another awesome day to be on the water.

Can you say, "P T S BABY!!!"...

Zilla- Thanks again bro and sorry for having to skip out on lunch... we'll definitely be hooking up again though. I'll catch up on the rebound. Hang loose...

Freddie

Here is a question for all of you that were there. What time was the first fish caught??
It seems that they start biting after 9am. I guess they need their coffee too.

Freddie caught his biggest mack and first fish around 6am.  Perhaps, most Tahoe fishermen start fishing after 9am after it warms up.  :smt002

Exactly, I was thinking Tahoe is a long way to drive for a skunk.  Fishing Tahoe for my first time in such conditions would have been worth it even if I got nothing.  It was beautiful.  I was amazed at the clarity of that lake.  I think I spent more time looking down than where I was paddling.

Truly a inspiring day! Ive never trapped suckerfish for bait before.  How big were they?  And how did you hook them?   Thanks for sharing that adventure.
