It was a blast getting to be part of that fish getting caught. I'm glad I was there to lend a hand. Threemoneyj's were both definitely full!

My fishing day wasn't quite as exciting, but I had a great time. I landed two keeper lings, but they were both really skinny, and just barely keepers, so I released them hoping for a bigger bite that never happened for me. It was a slow steady pick for rockfish, but I took home 2 decent verms, a decent black, and a fat gopher. Lots of released small ones. They all tasted good last night.

I got first blood on my new kayak and made some mental rigging notes to get the boat dialed in a bit more. Also made some notes on how to streamline my gear list for that area. I haven't fished kayaks up there before, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting a bit more familiar with the area.

Awesome! Same thing happened to my brother in law last week, but he didn't know how to deal with it and the hitchhiker let go when he got it to the surface. With the two lings thrashing around at the surface it looked like a sea monster attacking his boat. Big bait for big fish, I guess.

Great account! You won't be forgetting that fish soon. And neither will the 28 incher, luckiest day if his life! He's probably telling that story right now.

Very nice. That must have been a thrill. Sounds like a good day. Congrats on the 40 inch club. Maybe I’ll get some 30 inch swim baits.  :smt006

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Beautiful fish !  those teeth marks are crazy!    I'm also super used to lipping a fish, I forget my net is there half the time, I don't think I would even know what to do with a gaf and a ling that big either way!
