Thanks for sharing. I've considered shad fishing when I'm visiting the central valley. Looks like a blast on 4lb test.

Awesome, thanks for the report/reminder Dave.  I have not targeted them this year yet, but I typically do in late April through Memorial Day.  So much fun on light tackle and fly rods!  See you out there in the "Juan hole", which is where I typically have done the best.

Poor mans tarpon.  I love them, they are just showing up here in Sacramento.  I'll be floating the river starting next week.

In Virgina they call stingray meat "Poor Man's Brisket"...on another note the Maserati is the poor mans Ferrari... :smt006

Thanks for the reminder! Used to fish the American River in Sacto a lot, but it’s been years now. Now that I’m on the coast, the Russian seems like s good choice. Just have to go figure it out... he said easily.
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.

Looks like great fun! A stop by Russian River Brewery to end the day would be the cherry on top.

The Wohler Dam went up on May 9th. If anyone is going to chase Shad now I would focus your efforts down river from this area.
