Come on, where are all the hookups?!  I think people aren't sharing :P  Anyone going out on Saturday?  Was thinking of trying Stillwater Cove again after hearing MBYakker's post.  Last time I was there I could see a ton of fish, but they just weren't biting.  Maybe some lings down there still?  Would also consider any of the South Bay sort of launches like SC, Capitola, etc.  Haven't been out myself since the derby and still haven't had a decent fish landed from the Ocean I can be proud of.  But I wanna give it another shot :)

Sea looks lumpy and windy so I am building WAF. I am a bachelor next weekend and I am praying hard the sea calms down.  :help:

I will be fishing somewhere around Monterey but will need to head in by noon or so as my wife volunteered me for work at the Blues Festival and I will need a nap if I am going to make it through my shift.  Let me know if you want to hookup and that will push me to decide on a spot.  If not, I will probably decide at the last minute where to go.

Wherever you go, use live bait and your chances of hooking up will increase significantly = IMO  :smt002
Good luck! I'm free this Saturday but will try to stay local.....but if weather permits, I'll maybe try a halibut hunt at Davenport :smt002

Lately, the condition (wind and swell) is less predictable. The wind was a killer to my trips. This weekend looks not very promising.

The wind has put the kabosh on so many of my plans lately.  Any more and I might have to take up sailing, winsurfing, or kiteboarding instead.  :smt013

Regarding wind, I cant seem to find a reliable site to check wind conditions.  Take for instance the derby weekend.  Something like 15-25K wind waves, etc.  But that Saturday was beautiful, no fog, no wind, no swells.  Sunday however there was a ton of fog, but still none of the wind that people were worried about.  Even still, the NOAA forecasts are for 20NM out, and of course cannot speak to micro climates of different areas.  So I say pick two relatively close locations and a inland lake as backup with conditions in mind.  I didn't stock up the WAF for nothing :)

Davenport sounds cool, but its a trek right?  My boat is pretty heavy to carry on my back, but I do have wheels.  I would love to learn from the Mooch, so if your going Sat I'd try and make it :)  Then again I have wanted to try out Monterey as well, both sound like fun!  Carmel was pretty full of fish though last time I was there!

Btw, does Coyote stock live bait still, or is that for freshwater only?  Any other spots that do in the south bay?  Since I don't seem to get much free time to fish, would rather try picking up night before than hope I can pull in some on the sabiki.  But I carry it with me anyways.

For wind forecasts, I look at what's predicted for the nearest city location.  For real time, I go to:

I might be up for Stillwater and a run to the pinnacles or monastary if the conditions are ok. Etienne, what do you think? I will be off the water early because my wife will be with me.

I find for ocean wind forecast for kayak fishing I go with the nearest city on shore. That tends to be a lot more accurate. Some places are just a little more or less windy than others though. I know that Oyster Point is only going to get windier during the day.

There is word of Halibut at Carmel Rive St. Beach.  I think I am going to try that or Monastery Beach possibly with Coral St. as a backup.  I also need to be off the water fairly early.  Scott what is your wife going to be doing while you are fishing.  Maybe she would like to meet Constance and Natalie?  We are all signed up to work at the Blues Festival later Saturday afternoon.

I have a business trip in Reno for the whole week so I'm leaving 3am to hit Donner Lake. I should get out there by 7am 06/23/07. If any one is in the area say hello :smt006

I took a drive down to the Santa Cruz pier today at around 4pm.  Conditions looked incredibly mellow, not the 20-30kt winds or any real looking swell I could see from the pier.  Real nice and sunny!  Apparently the pier is closed to fishing on Sat by the way, not that it matters to yakers anyway ;)  Also saw two kayak's out along the west cliff kelp beds.

Still not sure where to go if at all tomorrow, but its looking doable in the reports for the southern areas.

FYI: I rode my bike up from Waddell Crk beach to Berry Crk Falls this morning.  At 8:30 the wind was just borderline for yakking, by 11 the kitesurfers had perfect conditions.  Yet in Santa Cruz there wasn't much wind.  Salinas TV (8) says it will be windier tomorrow.  Good luck, wish I could go.
