Look. It is reasonable to limit the ammo capacity in a firearm. You might be totally responsible having 30 round clips/drums/magazines for your own use and purposes but there are a hell of a lot of people out there who should not have the opportunity to increase the lethal element of guns. Sometimes one has to give up a fraction of "personal rights" for the greater well being of society.

That’s unusual—a judge that has actually read the constitution.

I didn't realize the 2nd Amendment makes mention of high-capacity magazines. The 2nd Amendment specifically says "well regulated militia." That part seems to have been ignored.

I think it's ridiculous that people feel they need these weapons. I fully believe in the right to have revolvers, shotguns, and hunting rifles. Those are plenty sufficient for home defense and recreation, but also not efficient enough to kill 50 people in a nightclub or at a concert.

Nobody needs a fully semi-automatic 30 magazine clip.

Ridiculous.

I'd love to have a 30 round mag for shooting ground squirrels.

Just because you don't think there's a use for them doesn't mean "nobody needs" one.

You don't "need" have the shit on your kayak.

You bring up a good question.  One I've faced more than once.  How does one shit on their kayak?

The second amendment had nothing to do with hunting, and yes it doesn't mention high capacity magazines, but the founders stated in their other writings that the purpose of the 2A was to give the colonists the ability to defend themselves against aggression from standing armies, and from oppression of a tyrannical government.(They wern't talking about deer rifles, and shotguns, they meant the rifle of the day) As a veteran, I damn well believe we should be able to own anything that would deter an army, our own or a foreign one from just waltzing in and taking over. As for giving up a little bit of our rights for the good of society...that's poppycock. Pretty soon your giving up  a little here, a little there, and pretty soon you don't have jack. It never ceases to amaze me how people are eager to give up their rights. The American people today, are just a shadow of the people who payed for this country in blood, sweat and tears over the last 200 years. We have had it way to good for too long, and the  last generation who realized this is all but gone. When they are all passed, we will have lost all memory of how quick things can change in this country. One day, things will happen and people will wake up and be powerless to do anything. Less than 6 percent of the population has ever served in the military and fewer yet in combat. As a combat vet, I know who will be the ones to deal with things once that day comes and no matter what laws are passed the ability to even the playing field will never be given up. Until that day comes.....FISH ON!!!

PS...

As for 30 round magazines...this I say to anyone who doesn't think we should be able to own them. The state speed limit in the balance of the California is usually 65 or 70 mph, yet cars and motorcycles that do a 100 mph, and some yet that will exceed 180 to 200mph are sold everyday. How ridiculous is that? If we are worried about safety, and the good of society lets start banning cars and motorcycles that exceed the speed limit! They kill far more people every year than all gun crimes in the last decade. I mean, most car owners are responsible and drive according to the law, but I mean were talking about the good of society here so lets do the right thing and ban all vehicles that can exceed the speed limit, in fact how about 55 and stay alive?  Sucks now when its your ox getting gored huh?
I leave you with this:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Someday they will come for everyone, history proves this, and you will wish you had clung to every right afforded to you by God and the Constitution. Peace out:)

I can’t tell if your egging on or realy serious (don’t know ya) but the equivalent to this statement means that you must give up your motor vehicle because drunk drivers kill people. People kill people, large bears kill people, the landlord kills people, other wild animals kill people, but I can guarantee you 100% that a gun or any other inanimate object has never killed someone.

There are a lot of people out there that should not be able to drive a vehicle daily but do not see anyone complaining about that.

You obviously dont know anything about guns... magazines are magazines and a clip is a stripper clip used in old guns. What is "fully semi-automatic" about a magazine ? or a gun? a semi auto gun is u pull the trigger once and the gun goes bang once... full auto you pull the trigger once and the gun goes bang bang bang until you take your finger off the trigger.  Second, no one should be a to tell me what I need or dont need except me...or my wife  :smt044  If you dont know what your talking about you shouldn't be making any comments.

We got trolled, bro.  :smt002

Making them illegal will only stop law abiding citizens from having them. Murder is already illegal so are drugs but that doesn't stop people who don't respect the law from doing them.  I personally don't have a Ak or AR they aren't my type of gun but I dont think its anyone's decision but the person spending the money on what they should have, as long as they are permitted to own a gun.

IIRC,Pre-1776, the British tried to stop the importation of guns with rifled barrels - rifles - into the colonies. Assault weapons. "Nobody NEEDS something that accurate - it's only a weapon of war".
