Hello fellow NCKAers,

I just purchased a brand new Shimano Trevala 6’6” M spinning rod. It’s still in the packaging with all tags and what not. I’ve decided to go with the MH version and sadly TackleDirect doesn’t cover the shipping on returns. So, I’ve decided to sell it for a loss instead of paying the astronomical shipping costs.

$110.

Update: No Longer Available.

Thank for both for the insight. I've been really tempted to keep it but I'd like to be able to use heavier weights should I feel like taking it on a charter boat. I'm not sure if it would be able to handle it as well. Thoughts? @Eddie I think we actually talked about your fondness for you ML before!

The ML works fine on the party boats. It also never hurts to have a backup rod with you.

Well, it has its place, I was just towing around a 10oz torpedo weight at Crissy field with no glitches...I would be ok with it on a charter, it would look underpowered compared to their big gear but it's all the same fish and the rod is built for 30-50 braid.  That is a mighty rod.  I have a big ol' 8ft seeker that I never use.  Total backbone, great rod but I almost don't need it.  My fav is still the 200g 5'8" acid wrapped ghost hunter though... :smt006

Can't go wrong with having a backup rod that's for sure. I have had the same 3 Shimano Trevala's for the last 6-7 years with no problems.

Hi Bruddaah,
I would keep the Trevala 6'6' MH rod if I was you. I originally have a ML50 -7' -'Trevala and ended up buying the MH rod for fishing down deeper, like out at the Farallons (200'+). The MH is a tough rod and still is ight enough for hauling up big fish with a 16oz, weight, if you have too. I have also used it for salmon fishing on my kayak and have been impressed how strong the rod is when a big salmon hits your line.
I also like the shorter rod fishing from my Revo!!!
Aloha,

I've decided to keep the rod. Thank you to everyone for your insightful comments. I haven't sold it but I'll mark it as such just in case anyone uses the search function and finds this thread useful. I'll see you all out on the water!

I like the trevala s personally.has the lift of the trevalas but the grips are like bass rods
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
