OMG it looks as if the surgeon went to Lowe's or Home Depot with all that hardware put in to support the bone.
Take it easy healing. Six weeks is not that long, but now the fun begins when you fly. You will be stripped of your dignity and it will take longer to get through TSA.  :smt013

I know I have a prosthetic hip and they have fun taking me out of line, even being pre-checked, as well as some of them make it quite time consuming to get through the mess of being searched and I even carry a retired military member ID. I guess that really gets their goat too. Bunch of wannabe's is how I think of them.

I've had nearly that same break. My ankle still clicks pretty loud but doesn't hurt at all. The ligments never fully tightened up so I have to hike with high top boots or a brace to support the "loose" ankle. Make sure to do your PT! haha I was young and dumb (still am?)!

Sorry to hear about surgery but I hope you heal well. Perhaps a "go fund me" for one of these beastly chairs could be in your future :smt007

No PFD?

That's actually a really great point. I just image searched on google for a "wheelchair fisherman" and that photo was my choice... but now that you mention it... that seems extremely dangerous to be in flowing water without a PFD.

2 week post surgical follow up. They took the temporary plaster splint off, took the staples out, and put a fiberglass cast on (in Warrior's Blue) for the next 4 weeks.

Thanks. its going well. I can't wait to get back out on the water with a rod. I am going to have to stick to lakes with easy access for a while. no rock scrambling or portaging for good bit until everything gets much stronger

Get a cat and put a toy mouse on the end of a trout pole line, that can be fairly entertaining , since your laid up we might even consider you to be targeting catfish  :smt006  definitely take it slow on the comeback or you might make it take longer to completely heal.
