Second I feel a picture with the fish near or on the kayak should be required. We get pictures taken at home with the fish. It would help prove your fish was caught on a kayak and not a friends fish or boat caught."

I agree with this.. The more transparency the better..

I know people are sensitive when it comes to JAOTY, but I also feel like it would be nice if people took pictures of their kids with the fish they caught and added it in their submissions.. There are some badass junior anglers out there and it sucks when they get robbed of finishing on top because a kid comes out of no where with a bunch of pictures of their fish on a board with the parents hand holding it down and we don't even know if the kid was there. I don't know.. I just think more transparency is nice.. I get that the point is just to have kids get out and fish any way they like and I'm all for that.. I just think it doesn't hurt to take a picture of your kid in some capacity to show they were at least there lol...

+100

I've told my kids multiple times that I want them to always post pictures of them with their catch both JDOTY and JAOTY.

Unfortunately, it's them posting it on their accounts and not me. If any additional proof is ever required of any of the fish my kids have ever caught this year or any other year  I'm sure I have additional pics with them with their catch  :smt001 and maybe some vid too  :smt002

I'm constantly taking pics of them. It drives them crazy!!!!  :smt005

I'm all for this being a rule for 2019 or if you even want to throw it in for this year I'm cool with that as well.

Happy Holidays!  :smt006

2018 was my first year participating.  I had a great time!!! The judges decision on two of my fish (SH vs. RBT and just not bumped) were appropriate, I think they did a great job. I'll be coaxing my girlfriend to enter this year.

I agree that photos should be taken on the kayak at the body of water where caught.

I like the idea of fisherwoman plaque or other appropriate prize.

I think belly down or laying on side views of lingcod, Cabazon, catfish and sturgeon should be allowed as long as it is clear the nose is touching and a marker can be read.

Aoty is too much fun.  Best part is fishing with the other competitors.  Cheering and jeering.  :smt001  Looking forward to another year.

I don’t think it should be required that the full length shot on the measuring board should HAVE to be on the water on the kayak.  It’s pretty difficult to get a good photo of big lingcod, halibut, salmon and catfish etc with out any glare, blur, mouth closed.  Most people take those shots back on the beach.  That being said it could be really helpful to judges to include pictures of the fish and kayak in same picture on the beach or on the water along with picture on the hawg trough.

Many thanks to the judges, sponsors and anglers!  Cheers to a new year!
