I didnt see this article on this site anywhere.  I thought it was interesting, especially in light of the 2019 reg that reduces the take on lings.

There is a ton to unwrap in that article. Nothing in it is new. It is poorly written. Go back through the PFMC brief books for this year if you really want a feel for what is going on.  The take home message for a fair few number of people is that the science cant be trusted. There’s a cry wolf problem with its underbelly exposed right now. That, itself, is a major problem when the science machine lacks credibility. Maybe the article could have talked about that. Maybe it could have made clear that federal harvest limits don’t translate to recreational bag limits. Kind of glosses over all of that though.

Lingcod south of 40°10’ are still a problem.

I have never read the PFMC briefs before.  I am looking at their sites now.

Is there an easy way to get at the data?  Most of the content reads like board meeting agendas and adoption results, without discussion of the underlying data they used to make the decision.  I do see some of that under some of the agenda items,  but am wondering if I am just not finding the right section on their site.

Gee, the science was wrong.  We all knew that.  Yet it was in this era that the MLPA was born, supported by faulty science.  Any yet, we have to live with the PERMANENT closures.  They'll probably take credit for the "recovery" as well.
