I got some tasty details about the Salmon derby from Moutcha Jim @ the Moucha Bay Resort on Vancouver Island.  http://www.moutchabay.com/Kayaking_Derby.htm

"I'm just confirming the details for sponsors to the Derby, good news is Ocean Kayak is providing their new Trident SOT as a prize."

Yup, it looks like we're starting to get a good group of people showing up for this one.  Would love to see some NCKA represent.  If you can get up to Seattle/Victoria/Vancouver, I'll do my best to set you up with a kayak, some gear, and a ride up to the derby.

Brain,
I'd pay for the shipping to my house since you don't have anymore room for a new toy at yours.
Yours truly,  Frankfishing

In defense of Brian (not that I defend him that often) I did see him up pretty early almost every day in Ketchikan last year.  However,  "The Catch" came in the afternoon, so he probably could have slept in.

BTW, there will be another of those new fangled Ocean Kayak thingamajigs offered up as a prize at this derby as well ... http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=8087.0.
