Loon is a 3 hour drive for me so I have never been up there. I usually hit the lakes up 88 becuase they are only a 2 hour drive.  Travis, want to car pool up there?

I've been to Loon before. I only fished it from the banks back then - looking forward to  fishing it from a Kayak. The camp grounds are top shelf - as I remember it. Lee has been up there more than I have and he has encountered bears at the campsite. Freaky  :smt119

I figure - just troll a shad rapala along the shoreline early in the AM and late on the PM. I'm really hoping for a Brown trout - I have yet to catch one  :smt011

Okay it looks like I am on for Sunday!   Brian- I don't know if carpooling would work too well, I am north of Sacramento.  BTW are you wearing your wetsuit up there?

I have fished Loon many many times.  Its best in the evening, ok in the morning, don't waste your time in the afternoon.  Solid trout fishing, any standard trout trolling set up will work.  You can't beat the scenery, but as the Rubicon is just thawing out expect LOTS of traffic.  During the afternoon walk to the "gatekeeper" with a lawn chair and watch the carnage.
