So it wasn't you and the boys then, Antonio?

I was in the water and Silent Hunter was on the yak in about 35 FOW.
He spotted it cruising on the surface parallel to our yak about 15-20 feet away.
I had just surfaced from my last dive of the day in about 30 feet of water on the opposite side of the yak/sighting.

I had just shot and gilled a ling and four blues in a span of about 20 mins. So there was blood in the water for sure.

When I surfaced I was about 30 feet from the yak and heard him yell shark and point in the direction of the sighting.

That was enough for me....was back on board in about 10 seconds. :smt003

We both had SS on.

So that proves that Shock Shields work then =P I wore mine yesterday too. I paddled super far yesterday and then ended up coming across a dad with his 2 boys out diving. I thought for sure it was you, Antonio. He was a good diver too, deep dives with good bottom time. He said he isn't on any of the forums though... I wonder who it was!

Not sure if he even got close enough to get zapped. I'll bet he knew I was there though with all the fresh blood in the water.

I was in the exact same spot that he cruised by just 15 mins prior.  :shark

Are there geographic limits to this warning?  I know to stay away from "the bean" but is the north coast "safe?"

I’m really new to the ocean but where is the “bean”. Also Are there great white sightings around the half moon Bay Area?

It's all safe as you are safety conscious to the max.  It is unsafe as being the ocean and the dealing with the critters below.  I go into the ocean with a healthy fear and respect.  The "bean" is Bean Hollow.

Yes, we're in the "red triangle" here in CenCali. I think it is Morro Bay up to Bodega Bay and out to the Farallons, someone correct me if I am wrong.
But yeah, there are white sharks potentially anywhere the water is salty here, though some places are more fraught with peril than others :smt002
