Cannery Row To Otter Cove 6/8

Fuzzy Tom and I launched from San Carlos Beach at about 6: to try for Halibut for the hell of it.  We started going west and continued in that direction.  There was enough action and sandy bottom to keep us interested but we were both impatient as it was not the same kind of action you get going after rockfish.  We did not get any butts but Tom got one under ling and I got one legal but released cabazon.  We both scored a few rockfish but the butts were elusive.  The wind was light but steady most of the time so we had to be careful not to snag up on the drifts.  Nothing interesting enough for photos this time.  A day fishing  is always better than a day working. 

Yo, Bro, I can tell from your activity level of late that you've got the itch pretty bad - time to start planning that July Cove trip.   

The itch but mostly the opportunity.  I had to work last Sunday so I fished Saturday and just happened to be able to fish the creek by hotel while working Sunday no family on the trip so no problem.  So this Friday was a make up for the weekend day I missed last week.  Since the family was at work and school, why not fish.  Sunday is the Derby and I am dragging the wife and kid along for the fun.  Family time.  I have been having a good time but not catching the big salmon and halibut and lings I am targeting.  I did get some big reds though.

Sackyak maybe the problem is your work.  Time to stop screwing around with this fuzzy science stuff and become a kayak fishing guide/photographer/chef.

I'll join you.  We can set up a tent that rents kayaks, poles and sells coffee, shaved ice and fish tacos.

You may have something there.  While Tom and I where fishing off the Row, we were about to draw straws to see who would paddle over to pick up some cinnamon rolls  .  We probably could have complete the round trip in less than 20 minutes but most likely the bite would turn on during such a run.  Neither of us was willing to let that happen.
