Whoa Eric! ... glad everyone was ok. He did have some scars on him too glad he didn’t want mess with the King and crew that day  :smt003. What do you think he ate your halbuit or rockfish ? I’ve seen a big T shark get pulled to the yak “ like on leash “ then realize its hooked then gone.

Dingbats on the UK page persisting with their assertion that the others didn't believe me - not true.

Whatever.

I noticed that too and called bullshit.  Fake news!!   :smt044

Let's just hope that when I do finally have an encounter that I get it on video and there's no bloodshed.   :smt003

It took my herring.  I pulled it to the yak like it was nothing - obviously that means it swam at me, because this thing was indeed the size of a car.  I could only see something tan and big below me.  Then after taking a little run on the surface I pulled it to me again - that's when I saw it was definitely a GWS.  I feel strongly that it had my herring in its mouth, or the weak fight and run would've felt different.

What surprises me is how brown it looks.  I've seen a number right up close, and they were much darker on top, with a really distinct light-colored bottom.  Saw one sideways in front of me from the yak once, it was four or five feet deep a few feet off my bow and the water was murky.  That one had a kind of tan tinge come to think of it.  Also mottling or freckling like a salmon shark, but the size was GWS.  Never saw the front or back end. It just kept going by....and going, and going, and going.  I didn't feel scared, much......Man what a great experience!

Probably remembered a distinctive word from the post and searched for it - like "bloodshed".

You reeled in a GWS. Documented it. Then broke it off...... cuz it's against the rules to do anything else with or to it. Only you could have pulled that off.
