I have been leery of taking my phone out on the kayak, I have arthritis in my hands and do not want to drop it in the water.
What have you used and what is your experiance with them?
I have looked at a few on Amazon, and cost is not an issue, I just want to find one that works.
The one floating one I looked at did not have any reveiws which I thought was odd...

Thanks,
Jeff

I've been using the waterproof case for my I-phone from Lifeproof and never have issue with it.  A little pricey but worth it.

I had my Iphone in a  lifeproof case for about 2 weeks. I dropped it once from about 3 feet and it was never the same. It would never seal again correctly. Got rid of it and now just use an otterbox defender case and put that in a tethered Pelican Water Proof case.

The water proof Pelican case protects it from the elements and will also float. The phone is not waterproof but so far have had no issues using the phone on the water am just careful with it.

I'm pretty sure the lifeproof will just sink if dropped into the water anyway.

What's with people that just can't be separated from their phones?

I bought this one after asking a few questions here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009PM7GFG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am not sure if it floats, never tested it. I just keep it around my neck under my PFD. Between my eyes and the glare on the water I have to take it out of the case to use it. I tried taking a pic through the plastic but pics don't come out very good.  I like it, at least it keeps the phone dry.

Why not take one, it is another type of communication that may come in useful. I can call the Coast Guard, 911, etc. But the most important thing is I can call my wife to start boiling water for crabs :smt003

For me it's always been wallet, phone, car key, in a pelican case, in the bottom of my seatback bag, just the best place for them, IMO.

Also on solo sturgeon trips you can call peeps to just shoot the shit, weather permitting  :smt002

Heavy Duty double sided tape with a pivot ring on the back of a life proof case. Attach a gopro float or something similarly buoyant to the ring.

The point is that I don't trust the life proof phone case. All it takes is an incomplete seal and water can penetrate it.
That is exactly what happened to my case after just dropping it a few feet onto the ground. A bobber isn't going to fix that.

So at that point it doesn't matter if it's in a lifeproof case or an otterbox it's still getting wet. The bobber will just retrieve your wet phone.

This is a lifeproof review link. Check it out for yourself.

No complaints and feel quite confident with it having already wrecked a phone in the salt.

I really like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Optrix-Body-Glove-Kit-iPhone/dp/B00W7S34XS

The bad/good news is that it's been discontinued. So, it's hard to find, but if you can find one it'll be cheap (originally sold for $80+).

I lost the rubber seal on mine, and emailed the company asking if they sold that part separately. They said no, but they'd send me one for free. It turned out that "one" meant a whole new case, not just the rubber seal. I'm still amazed by that.

Anyways, I've got the case attached to a little DIY post that fits in a scotty mount. I get a lot of use out of my cell phone when I'm on the kayak, as it's my primary GPS, I use it to take photos for on-the-water live reports, and so on. Once I figure out how to make a waterproof charger connection from my FF battery, it'll be perfecto...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Pictures...

Have you ever said "pictures or it didn't happen?"   :smt003

Plus, many years in the past, I may not have been where I said I was, so she likes pictures...  :smt044

I mostly kayak fish by myself, so I consider it a lifeline if bad shit happens...
Thanks to those who have provided feedback so far!

After several years of using Lifeproof cases, I recently sprung for a Catalyst brand case. I’ve only had it for a couple days, but so far I’m impressed. Feel really solid.

I use my phone pretty hard at work, home and play, and always seem to tear up my cases within a year. Most recently my last lifeproof died when the Touch ID film stuff tore apart and the clear screen protector started to separate from the case as the soft rubber was worn away.

I always got tons of complaints from people saying I sounded really muffled with the Lifeproof case. Wife was NOT a fan of that...
