South San Simeon 6/3

Well I fished my same area today except I launched from the beach, to cut down the two mile paddle from Leffingwell,across from Washburn day use area just south of san simeon. the Surf was 4-5 ft but seemed to have plenty of time between sets.  My two buddys got out fine, although one had to poke through a wave and take a shower but he made it.  Me on the otherhand I decided to take a swim and have a yard sale. Fortunately had leashes on all the important stuff.  Had two tackle boxes and one of them was donated .  Anyway regrouped got the timing better on the second try and got out.   The fishing was good.  Got  a legal ling(25") about 15 mins in. my two buddies did alright.  one of them had two big reds, a couple legal cabbies, all but 1 released and lots of various rockfish.  The other had a nice 19" cabbie, some assorted rockfish and a 26" ling.  After my first Ling I had some various small kelp bass, black and yellows and gophers.  I did not see any reds or cabbies.  I did though catch another legal ling at 24" which was released.  we were fishing our way in And I found a little kelp patch where I got a short ling, released, and then two drops Later hooked a Pig of a  ling Fat!  made several line stripping runs until I finally got it up and stuck it with my gaff from Kunz's Reel rod's ( thanks Erik) . Made My day biggest ling so far this year for me.  31.5"  did not have a scale but after lifting it it had to be at least 12 lbs maybe even 14.  Pics below, My fat ling, a couple different shots, short one I released, and the two lings I kept.  ( one of the lings on my stringer is my buddy's  who had one of those trout stringers and asked if I could keep his ling more secure.) 

way to go, glad you got it good.  you seem to be consistently doing better than i have @ harvey.

me & rustic andy hooked up there today, he did well, before i left he scored 3-4 lings with one looking around 26" and FAT!  i only had one underling & various others so i didn't stay too long.

Nice lings!  It looks as through the Gods generously accepted your tackle donation and rewarded you amply.  Sounds like you did the whomping shore launch off San Simeon beach-  I have done real well there, off of Picos creek.

thanks andy, yep thats the launch. I figured that was the least they could do after they soaked me down and took my tackle box.  Luckily I had I already tied on a jig to each rod so I did have three out there. 

Way to go on your ling 29" is good sized.

Nice lings. Sorry about the swim. Went for a swim  at Limekiln last month and lost a rod. I rig my boat a lot tighter now.

I will be rigging mine a lot tighter as well!  Thankfully I had all my rods tethered. I went straight to Virg's in morro bay and purchased the first round of replacements.
looking back I'm glad it was only the tackle box!
