santa cruz 6/2, 1 ling(lost 2), 2 blacks, 3 chinas, and other smaller rock fish

was out there from 7:30AM to about 11.

let the smaller ones go, kept the ling, the blacks and the chinas. lost the two lings cauze my net was too small. they definitely were much larger than the one in the pic. the first was lost right before i could net it, the second, i was able to net the head, which barely fit, but then the lure came off, and all hell broke loose, couldn't control it and damn... but had a good time.

i guess only the ling is worth a pic

  I like to use a fish gripper for lings, successful most of the time and saves having to bother with a twisted up ling in the net.

I have to agree with the fish gripper thing, I have used those little orange ones instead of a gaff
for quite a while now.  only gaff the bigger lings or halibut now.
