Similar things happened to me & Sean-SBD last year @ Albion...

We couldn't figure out either. :smt009

It slayrided me into the kelps (yeah strong & fast like WSB) & came off, drop back on & came back... did a few more times then broke off my 40lb leader.

I thought it was the weirdest thing but then saw Sean & he told me same thing just happened him too...
 
I thought it might be a seal but it never popped up...
