Frying up 10 pounds of fresh halibut this afternoon at my in-laws' Rodeo party.  Yesterday I got on the bay before the sun came up and hooked up on a fatty 34 incher right off the bat.  I enjoyed smooth water and perfect weather for a little tour of the middle channel trolling frozen choves.  Finished out a limit with two quick ones just after 9AM.  Nice break from running swells and current on the salmon hunt, but I'll be back out there soon.

Fishing opportunities along the Humboldt coast have been outstanding this summer, and things are about to get hot on the river in the coming weeks as a larger than usual salmon run is expected to show up.  I'll be running free natural interpretive tours on the lower river as the fish stage for their spawning run - hit me up for more info.

It pays to get out early.  Nice job. This shows you dont need live bait.  If I didn't have to cook my dogs breakfast, I would have been on the water early.  T

Good on ya! Looks like you get a better grade there than we get in Crescent City. Maybe the bigger ones will show up here a little later.
