Can't wait to paddle out on Saturday am!!!!
Glad you are coming again this year!!!
We're gonna get'um this year!!!
Aloha,

Hey Eddie,
I was at the Harbor yesterday afternoon to meet with the gang. Around 5pm, I was fishing off the back of Capt. Frank's Fury with live bait and no weight. Almost like fly fishing, letting the anchovy swim to the bottom and I got slammed with a good sized Striper. It hit the bait with such velocity, it caught off guard and the fish started diving towards the piers and I overreacted, trying to keep it from getting snagged. My drag was too tight and I did not let the fish run out and get tired so that it would be to the surface. Lost it on a bent hook.
Good news for us, there's big stripers cruising the harbor in the late afternoon!!!
I have caught more Stripers off the back of the Fury than any place else!!!
We gonna get'um this weekend.
Michael

No prizes this year, just bragging rights I suspect...full on food, pot luck"ish" know the regs, 3 hali's 22" minimum, 2 stripers 18' minimum, sturgeon card on barbless if you want to keep one, not in season but I saw one jump in front of me at paradise the other day, they are around, gear swap?  Stingrays, leopard sharks and a possible secret fish if it's your day...any guesses...? Everyone launches at their own pace and we're all probably off the water by 3-4 depending on the wind.
Guesses on secret fish?....salmon?🐟🐟🐟🐟
Oooooo...wouldn't that be nice... :smt002 :smt006

I'm going for Lingcod  :smt005
I'm going for Pelagic Monkey Faced Eel :smt005

I think Michael is camping and I know of one other guy bringing his camp trailer.   I'm debating to tent camp but I only live 15 minutes away.

We will be there in my pop up fri-sun afternoon. Going to be some wind folks so be prepared. Anchors, Amas, stabilizers and Strong stable kayaks. Dress for immersion and have your safety gear. One or more of us will probably end up swimming and the water is cold! Minimum, have a loud whistle tied to your Life jacket. Wind can separate you and your Kayak in seconds. Remember, don't panic, float, and blow that whistle like crazy :smt044 A boat and other kayaks will be available and on hand...
Going to be fun and less wind early so don't plan on sleeping in!!! :sleepy2:

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Hi all!   We paid through PayPal (rodney jue), hope you got it!   Wanted to ask.... we are driving up after work tomorrow night.   Unfortunately we won't be able to attend the evening safety meeting(unless a miracle happens at work and I can get off early! ).   And we probably will get there sorta late.  Do we check in with someone?   Im just making sure we will be able to find a place to place our tent!   And if we do miss the meeting, can we possibly talk to someone to get a quick gist of the meeting?   Thanks for all the info!   We are really looking forward to some awesome company and fishing!

Hi All,

A few more last minute details to help you guys whether you arrive tomorrow or Saturday morning.
I will be there Friday from 6-9pm and Saturday from 6:30am on.  Here's some things you guys need to do before setting off and catching those monster fish.

1.  CHECK-IN:  Please come to the clubhouse (or come find me) to CHECK-IN and pay your $20 event fee if you haven't already done so.  Check or cash please.  These numbers helps us plan next years event, make sure we have enough food, and match the face to the name.  If you plan to launch before I get there, then you can either preCHECK-IN on Friday or find Michael (Da Bruddah) to get you squared away.

2.  OVERNIGHT CAMPERS:  Take a look at the map below (google image isn't up to date but camping area is clean).  There is an area to the right of the clubhouse reserved for you guys/gals.  First come, first serve camping in the flat area.  Please do not wander off into the hills or get too close to the dry grassy areas.  Showers and bathrooms are located inside the Clubhouse.  There are two more additional bathrooms outside if you walk towards the jetty (past the restaurant).  Again, no open fires or grills in the camping area.  There is a communal grill at the Clubhouse for you to use, if needed.

3.  KAYAK LAUNCHING:  There are two launches for this event (look at map below).  The BEACH launch and the HARBOR launch.  For the Beach Launch, you can drive your vehicle next the the beach, unload your kayak/gear, and then please re-park your vehicle back in the General/Day Use area.  Harbor launch is close to the parking area, but same idea applies.

4.  LIVE BAIT/TACKLE: If you decide you want live anchovies, you can pay when you CHECK-IN.  $20 for a big scoop, or $10 for a small scoop.  You'll be given a tag, which you'll give to Jack or Michael, when they scoop the anchovies for you in the Harbor.  I'll also have live bait rigs for sale ($2/each; 3-way/25lb fluoro leader/Gamakatsu 2/0 hook) and can also loan out torpedo weights if you don't have the right size.

5.  FOOD/POTLUCK:  Potluck feast will be around 5pm-ish or when everyone is done fishing.  Your event fees helps pay for the day use of the Clubhouse and the Whole Roast Pig.  While not everyone is partaking in the fishing and event to its fullest, we promote you to bring your family, children, and loved ones.  This is a family community event and we appreciate the help to anyone who can bring a potluck dish to share with everyone.  If you're unable to bring a dish, then we won't stop you from partaking in the feast... but donations are appreciated too!

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY or You get lost, CALL:

Hey Eddie and da whole Gang coming,

When Kevin, Jack and I were planning this weekend, thanks to Kevin and Jack, they found the best Saturday with 4' tides. This will be the safest and best kayak fishing conditions for the entire month. I just read an article by Tom Stienstra from the Chronicle today and he says that this weekend might, especially Saturday might be the best day to fish the bay for Stripers and Halibut. "First of all the Bay is full of juvenile anchovies and that has drawn in striped bass from the Delta, halibut from the ocean."
"Striped Bass
The tides are perfect for weekend potluck fishing-where you use live bait and drift over a likely spot" one of those spots is the Brother's Islands next to us at the Harbor.

Tides on Sat. August 4th :
HT4' @5:3am
LT 1.8" @11:07 am

We are moving in a dark moon cycle and light winds in the am.
Capt. Frank and Jack picked up the live anchovies from SF today.
They will be a enclosed pen next to the Fury in the harbor.
So I don't know about you guys, but I just made a bunch of love bait jigs with 2/0 and 3/0 hooks.

We have such a great opportunity to have a great Bay fishing weekend!!!!
The stars are all lining up.  If you don't have anything to do this Sat., this is a great opportunity to fish the Bay with live bait!!!!!!!!!!
Eddie, I feel the excitement and adrenaline going. We wait all year for a Bay fishing day like this Sat.. plus we will be in, what I think is the most beautiful harbor in the Bay.
We hope that this will also be a educational time for guys and gals who have not fished the Bay to others who have fished some, like, and the learning curve is pretty big for fishing the Bay; to ask and learn from the Vets like Eddie and Capt. Frank.

We gonna call on the local Native-American spirits that I think once lived there to have a safe, great fishing, fun, tasty and lastly, peaceful and relaxing time.

I feel grateful to have put some time with Kevin and Jack to make this possible for our NCKA Ohana!!!!

I have a good feeling, that's  what I am feeling!!!
Like in Hawaii, nature takes over and you can only be grateful that we will spend this time together. We're just fishing the, Bay and Moana is doing it's magic.
Aloha Bruddahs and see You for a great time together,

One Life Bruddah,
Michael, Kevin and Jack
