Thats super neat to see one up so close, Sad humans killed it. I have them on game camera on my property here in Guerneville and also had an issue with a goat missing last year

Whatever you do, do not follow ravensblack's advice. It is a felony to possess any part of a mountain lion in the state of CA.

In Montana, if you find a game animal other than a bighorn sheep which died from non-human causes, you can keep the head, antlers, horns, claws, or whatever.  A couple of years ago I found a large male mountain lion which had been killed by another mountain lion, and got the skull cleaned.  I posted pictures at http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=83987.msg954275#msg954275 .

My bad, I didn't research the law. I was told by a warden a while ago when I asked about bringing my lion mounts from MT & NV into california. So I took his word that the penalty was a felony charge.
