No holes cut with this idea.  Straps onto boat.
Like the pedaldrop system

Just when you thought it could get no better!

Hey, I found your solution, it is HERE!!!!!   ~Bushy

Trolling motor ftw, I’d be cautious tho if you’re going into the ocean kayaking,  kind of physically  disabled . these waters do get dicey... even worse when the wind gets going.

Its not really a problem of weakness, just pain the next day or late that night.

Meh......safety third......cut the hole in your yak, cobble together a pvc based peddle drive and go chase some salmon.  Just carry some duct tape in case of an emergency and grow a sweet stache.

Then just suck it up and eat some spinach, take some Advil and call Bushy in the morning.

Outside of making some sort of offset crank and an outrigger  to old school paddle wheel, I don't see this as idea that work well. A paddle wheel boat as we know requires a lot of energy for little return.

How do we know that? I've seen claims that paddle wheels and prop drives are about the same, wrt efficiency.

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

On a flat water surface propeller and paddle wheel are closer but not the same, in efficiency. The first ocean steamers, all paddle wheel, lost out to the screw/propeller system. In rough  water with big swells. One paddle wheel would dip deep the other shallow, losing effectiveness when partially or wholly out of water. Plus. A prop system was easier to steer.

Oh,,, when I think of the pain you will go thru..     :smt044   But who knows...  It might be fun,, certainly a learning experience.    Think I"ve attempted about 6 different drive systems.. One using waters.. another using flippers..   One prop drive..
   This,,,,  was my first.

Alright so Ive got a Malibu x factor, and think it would be fun (and easier on my shoulder) to build some sort of inexpensive pedal drive.

Best advice:  Don't.

Haha! Didn't say I was going to build a paddle wheeler, just curious. But, supposing I wanted to float down the Missouri River...
