Keep in mind that if they move the bottom of the cockpit up above the waterline it will raise the center of gravity and make the kayak less stable.  I just keep my scupper plugs in on my Drifter (which has an even deeper cockpit) and bail it out if enough water gets in to bug me.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Alas, I'm still yak-less in Fremont. Waiting to see the new Prowler before I take the plunge and choose a yak. It's too bad the Big Game isn't 2 or 3 feet longer..then again, it would probaby be even heavier. Poison oak still bothering you?

Am still in the rash mood however not as bad with a more manageable area on my forearms. I still have Allens Prowler 15 so if you would like to paddle all I need to do is put it on the truck and were good to go.
I am leaving for Moreno Valley today and will be back Sunday eve. Frank

Thanks for the offer, Frank (and to Allen for the use of the P15). I'd like to take up your offer at a later date. I'm tying up some loose ends at work before heading east to Buffalo/Niagara Falls for a couple of weeks' vacation. Then, after a couple of weeks back, I'm off to San Diego for a 5-day tuna trip on the Royal Polaris.

In my program at work, I process all reports. I'm constantly told by engineers that they can do my job. So I'm trying to line up all the ducks for them to make that task easier. When I return from each of my vacations, I expect to hear how they're SO happy that I'm back...and they'll be humble again, at least for about 15 minutes.

Thanks for the review Frank.I had a similar experience with the P15.I hope OK fixes those wet footwells and adds a deck hatch on the Trident.

I have to say those wet footwells have made a great bait tank in a pinch!

I'm with Tote.....I have kept many happy minnows on those wet footwells  :smt002 The "wet-footwells" never really bothered me cause I usually stradled my kayak most of the time anyway.

Took the T160 to Tahoe last time. I have my bait tube hanging over the side. Next thing I know is ISN'T hanging over the side. I must have knocked open the clip when I straddled the kayak to get in the front hatch. It was gone.
I would have liked to have the wet footwells of the P15 then. I did however enjoy the dryness of the T160 on the paddle in.

Not to pull and end-around on Frank, coz I don't mean to answer the Q...  but John, more info might help him... Like where and in what conditions would you be using the yak, what will you primarily be fishing for?

Craig is right on  proposed use. I have paddled this yak and it is amazingly stable. However, I must admit the p-15 has won my heart and have put an order in for the Trident. Yes I will be buying a strippy and will be seeking the advice of the community for the pimp out. No I won't be doing the dumb ass things that I did to my now freshwater Hobie.
Was this the plan all along Allen? ;)
