With all this crappy weather I started on a fishing related task - yak storage!  The shed I had at my old place was embarrassingly ghetto, even for me, so I decided to make a fishing gear and tool shed.  I'm in an unincorporated area, so I can build a 150 square foot building up to 12' tall without a permit, so I went 8'8"x16'x12 (once the roof is on) give or take a few layers of plywood and siding.  To facilitate overhead kayak storage I put in a loft and a HUGE door that accesses both the loft and lower part.  The door is 4' wide and about 24" tall at the loft so kayaks will slide in easilly.  It's also about the same height as my van, so I may be able to slide a kayak right out on top with no carrying involved.

I just finished hanging the door and will build the rest of that wall tomorow because now I know where the door ends.   :smt003  Once I'd hung that thing and gave it a swing I felt like I was opening the door to the mines of mordor, it's huge and heavy.

There's perhaps another week's worth of work in there, most of this was done this weekend.

Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Nice dude! I need to get in gear and make my kayak a nice place to live.

I shudder to think what is ghetto to you!  :smt044

It looked something like this, only short and long:

Randomness rules the universe. Perseverance is the only path to success..but luck sometimes works too.

I'm not kidding either, the sides were scrap drywall leaned against a corrugated roof.  ;)
