I've got some of these and they float. They are hollow bodied and I put a hook into it like you would a FLUKE, then drove the tip of hook into its back(to make weedless)
It stays perfectly straight/vertical like a baitfish just sitting there waiting to get engulfed.
Very realistic look and feel, but I have not tossed them around enough yet.
That vid makes them look GOOD though!

I don't think it will be that hard. I ordered some small ones to see if I can scale them up properly.

I won't be passing them out until AFTER Elk.  :smt044

I used the pumpkin colored ones in the salt last Sunday. They definitely work. Caught some bomber browns on a non-yak venture. Riding the ocean was like being on the roller coaster at Great America.

Bill

I'm new to this site, in fact this is my first post, but it looks like you're the man as far as lure molding.

I'm into that myself but so far just making pop molds of lures already made that are not patented.  I was wondering, have you done, or would you consider doing a tutorial on line for us amateurs as far as mold making?

I was wondering also, how do you make a larger version of a lure?  Do you take parts of other larger lures and glue/melt them together to form a lure and make a mold of that, or do you start from scratch and make a lure out of clay etc and then make the mold of that?

Also, I've had some trouble pouring lures from single sided molds that had thin tails, legs etc because of run over so my last mold of a grub I made two sided but I haven't made any grubs from it yet.  I'm trying to make some kind of injector to get the plastisol down into the small areas.  Any suggestions?

I'm looking foreward to getting a lot of good knowledge from you guys as I'm on the east coast and we don't have salmon or butts here but the wife and I are planning to move up to the Olympic Penninsula in Wa this fall and she doesn't fish but we're both excited about the prospect.

Thanks for the help.

I have about 1/2 of a video shot to explain the basic mold making process. Pouring is fairly easy, the hard part is making a good mold. You can buy a lot of molds but there are not too many big molds like I use for the salt, plus I like coming up with my own stuff.

I am going to try to work out a lure making session sometime later this summer. I have to figure out the best format.
