Do tell....

Great day with nice wether in the am. Fish the tides and hooked a big girl. Took a while to bring her up but when I did it was hard to get her in the boat. She laid flat near my boat untill I gaffed her and took my gaff all the way to the bottom. Reeled her back up and put her in the net. Gaff got bent and muddy. Went back in and chilled at cck Redwood City! Such a amazing place and staff!

Nice. How many butts get pulled in this morning?

Tomorrow looks like a bust with the winds picking up. :(

I like the new location for CCK. Nice place , nice people. Oakland was always a bit far for me. Now I can demo closer to home.
The Pier across the waterway at CCK looks like it could hold Stripers. Speaking of which, the South Bay seems to be holding a lot of Stripers. Most feisty Diapers just shy of 18" Some low twenties and bigger.

i'm officially pooped lol

Running on an hour of sleep. Went to bed at 1 and up at 2 am. Was laying in bed trying to sleep but couldn't lol

Got stuff loaded, put the dog in the car and on the road by 2:30. Arrived a little after 5 and James was already in line. Just an FYI. OP officially open up at 6 am but the guard was nice enough to let us in.

The forecast didnt look nice with 10-14 mph throughout the morning so I wanted to get in as much fishing as I can lol The forecast was wrong and it was nice all morning :)

Guys were slowly showing up. The morning bite yield 7 shaker (going through my bait like candy) :( but it was consistent action in the shallow vs deeper. With the short time window to fish and get off, it was a matter of finding them. The master fish killer Andrew and a few other found them in the morning while the others got the kids. lol I should have known, it was Ariel event afterall lol j/k

Time was up and no keeper for me so instead of packing up, I decided to stay. I fished long and hard and went all over the place. Didn't get off the water until 5:30 lol not because I wanted to fish that late but the wind and current push me to almost to ARW lol Took awhile to get back but on the quest to get back, i stumble upon a honey hole. When the tide change, it was non-stop action of 20-21. Literally on every drop it was fish on. I notice holding the rod produce a better hookup ratio since you can feel the bottom and let out line if necessary to feel bottom.

On one of the drop, it instantly took the dead top smelt and anchovy combo and ran. I knew it was a good size and felt heavy. Got it up and sure enough it looked like a keeper. It came out to almost 23 inch. One to the boat. Then re-rigged and bam another heavy load on. This one felt stronger and heavier. Slowly reeling it up while the dog knows what is up start the anticipation. As soon as I saw color it was game on to get it into the net! A few failed attempt but finally got it in. Measured to almost 27 inch. Too bad I didn't locate this spot in the morning but having these FISH KILLERs, my chance were slim lol

Slowly working my way back to the launch, I get a few more. Searching for the go-home fish, I came upon a ledge and bam it took off. Got it up and it looked a tad smaller than 27. It was barely hooked and when it took off it was good bye. It was also my last bait :( Put on the jerk bait on a 3 way and continue to hammer them kiddies. I think from 3-5pm, I landed 20 kiddies!!

Pulled the plugged at 5:30 and load up by 6. Hung out and play ball with the dog awhile waiting for JT to get done. Didn't hit the road home until 8 but home by 10:40.

It was great seeing everyone!! Congrats Andrew on the win!! Should have followed you dang it haha

Right on guys! Congrats Andrew! I couldn’t even get a nibble. But then again, I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time  :smt044. It was great hanging out with everyone. Thanks CCK for the free lunch. Highlight of my day was riding the Orgy SUP.

Congrats Andrew for the Win. I couldn't get my bites until the afternoon and had to work for them. I just couldn't make it happen on
on the first tide. Thanks Ariel and CCK for putting on the event it was fun. I'll swing by the CCK redwood store for a visit and to check it out during
the week.

congrats andrew! i called it.  probably the fishiest guy i know!

i, like a few others, had a slow morning.     filled with frustration, i decided to stay and fish longer because fishing for these "bi&%h" fish has become personal, or you can call it an obsession.

zero bites, not even shakers during the morning run.  first bite of the whole day came at 1pm as the tides had just turned.   it showed to be a 23" fatty.  about 6 shakers followed and wind started to pick up bad. reminded me one other time fishing here and having almost zero paddling progress.  definitely not for the novice when this happens.   off the water by 4pm.  long ass day of fishing otw for almost 10hrs.  with a 1 measly keeper to show.  and some grilled fillets for dinner.
