Does Bonito Flakes really expires?

Just curious, I bought bonito flakes and just noticed its expired. I mean its a dried fish. Can it really go bad?

if it gets moist from the humidity and then goes fuzzy yeah, but if it stays dry it should be good. I did buy some maldive fish (sri lankan/indonesian dried tuna) once that got a strong ammonia odor to it so i tossed that.

Just do the taste test.  Like you said, it's dried fish.

It’s only expired if you believe it to be. Plenty of cultures don’t have expiration labels on their food😂

I havent open it yet, I'm trying to make Dashi stock for my Ponzu, I remember I bought one and I know its been a while, so I checked the expiration.
