I was returning from a So Cal trip and at approximately 3 am I was driving through Santa Rosa and noticed the nastiest wind I have ever seen in the area and a thick smell of smoke.  Right in front of me they closed hwy 101 and sent me right into the pits of hell.  Santa Rosa was on fire.  Cars, buildings and trees.  Absolute chaos. I was surrounded by fire and couldn’t breath for a long while as I was trying to find an exit.  I thought I was going to die so I turned on the video to document my death.  A little crazy but it made sense at the time.

Sorry to the fire guys for running over your hoses.

It took over 30 minutes to get out of this hell and finally get some air that was not so toxic and burning to my throat.  I am still shaking but wanted to pray for those who are still being affected.

This doesn’t even come close to the worst of it but will help you understand what it was like for many here.

Woke up this morning and walked out to my car (in Daly City). I started looking around because I smelled thick smoke and something burning. Went on my phone to check of any local fires in my neighborhood. It’s all in the north bay. The wind has pushed the smell all the way down here.
I hope and pray that they get this thing contained.

I'm in the South Bay and the air quality is bad here too because of the fire.

Glad you made it out safe guys.

I had no idea until this morning.
I headed down the hill and as soon as I crested the last hill I couldn't even see the valley. It was completely socked in.
Headed up the hill instead and the winds were crazy coming home on Morman Emigrant Trail.
That was some scary video you posted DG. Glad you got out safe.
The recovery is going to be long and hard for a lot of people.
For everyone affected, please be safe.

Duane, glad you are safe, and was able to keep it together drive thru that Hell. Hats off to you Brother.  Your vid is eyeopening for folks that have not been fire situations before. I am sooo looking forward to diving after fire season and breathing clean air for a while.  My Engine with Strike Team XTB 4235 A  headed to Grass Valley area with another Captain since I just recently returned up north. See ya on the water later.  Thoughts , Prayers and Positive Vibes in areas affected by the numerous fires.

So thankful you got through the fire safe.  Our Prayers are going out to all NCKAers that live in the area.  Get out and be safe, stuff can be replaced but not lives.

Please post when you can that you are safe.

Just found out my sister in law lost her house.

At least three of my work mates, as well.

There's multiple ncka members that live in the evacuation zone, too.

My work may have burned down. Looks like fountain Grove was pretty much wiped out.
