Lots of yaks at Mendo...Paige solos!!

Well I got out about 0630 this AM.  I took my youngest (Taylin) who now has earned his NCKA name of SALMON BERRY, after the family cabin on Whidbey Island.  (Thats the name of our street)  We met with Big Eye Dave and his buddy.  I was like a street bum beggin for a minnow, since the bait shop was not open, and I did not have a dip net.  THANKS BIG EYE.  That minnow ultimately died while being sucked into the mouth of my striper.  He was about 27 inches.

A short time later I "MOOCHED" a half dozen Shad from SCWAFISH.  THANKS BRO.  With all the yaks on the water it was like rush hour traffic in SF.   But it was awesome.  We definitely dominated the lake today.  My boy got hooked up and he managed to reel in a 29 1/2 incher.  His 1st Striper and he gave it the C&R.  Only after it poured milk on him. (thats what he called it)......

Way to go. Looks like a super day on the water with fish all around.

Congratulations to both Paige and Taylin!    It was a great day to be out on the water. It’s always fun to be out in a big group like that. I wish I would have taken the time to net some shad before heading out; it seemed like the stripers were picky today and wanted the shad over minnows.

Taylin was pumped all day...  The sun and the striper caught up with him, and he fell into the siesta mode.... Like father like son.

That's pretty brave of him to be standing in the kayay holding that fish.

great job, guys...  I gave up... that lake's your guys...

Danglin-the "magic" net is very hard ot find, but is sometimes at West Marine...its nothing special just a medium mesh blue nylon net.  The frame that comes with the magic net sucks any hoo.  I ended up getting a replacement net and just put it on a regular dipnet frame.

Erik said he had good luck with green Promar, they are much easier to find. I would give that a try.

Thumbs up on the green promar net.  The telescoping handle is really nice for this too.

If you hold it in front of the school of shad, one or two will swim into the net and a bunch more will follow... then you just scoop them up.  Works great.  You don't have to chase them around with the net... let them come to you.
