Had this Bourbon last time I was home with my Dad at his local bar...super good!

I'm a Kentucky style bourbon guy mostly. Knob Creek and Buffalo trace are ones that have a nice price point.

I recently got turned on to what are referred to here as Scotch Whiskeys (my Scottish co-worker just calls 'em whiskey obvs), with Lafraigh being a nice example. The smoky peat aroma and flavor grew on me and the style has become one of my favs.

I like Glenlivet, Kirkland 24 years (hey its good), Jameson, Bulleit Rye, and discovered that I am not a fan of Peety Scotch like Glen Garoche.

forgot to mention my older son Josh was just in Scotland and had the chance to taste scotch flights, and said his favorite was Talisker. Also asked a bartender what is favorite of all time was and he said cyrstal box double single.

I have to chime in here and say that Tequilla is the true nectar.  But my Pops and brother like the grain based stuff.  Little bro always has a bottle of Lagavulin 16 on hand, and Pops likes the Oban 14.  Lagavulin is a smokey peaty powerhouse, and does really well with one rock and a nice cigar or pipe.  As for the Oban, its a bit more friendly to the palate.  Great for after dinner.

I'm with you Jim on the Glenlivet for an often beverage along with the Kirkland. (It is good).

But by far the best Scotch came from my grandfathers bar after he passed away at 100 years old.

My guess is that it was well aged b4 he got it and I bet he had it for 40-60 years.

I kept it for 20 years b4 I cracked the seal with my one of my best buds.

It was called Vat 69 Gold.

On The Rocks!!!
