Hey there, great forum you've got here. Looking forward to learning and getting on the water!

How did I get here? I recently came across a recreational sit on top tandem kayak and given my relative proximity to Tomales Bay, I'm interested to see if I can get on the water for halibuts.

Thanks guys! I've been searching through the forums to get an idea of what I need, but the gear list is overwhelming! First things first, a PFD, oar, and a way to transport on the car. I think a wetsuit might be important but interested to hear your thoughts.

Welcome. Check the safety first forum here for getting outfitted. There's lots of stuff you probably haven't thought of yet.

Hey Sakana.  I am new myself, only been out for halibut a few times on my kayak.  Still haven't hooked up with a keeper, but the shakers are plenty fun to learn from at first! Too bad, I can't practice gaffing on the shakers, lol!!
