I have a hummingbird on my harborcraft that I love. But I use my kayak 3-4 times a month and my boat probably once a month.  Depending on the weather.  Plus since I'm usually solo and dive with my kayak regularly and havnt had it flip on me yet but it does get pretty wet so that's good to know.  The kayaks I have now are super basic and I'm in the process of moving into a 5000 sq ft store inside the mall so money's pretty tight but I don't want to spend more on my FF than what I did on my kayaks lol.  Plus if I don't get my wife the same thing I'll never hear the end of it when I outfish her lol.

No she has her own kayak and is always trying to outfish me.
One with and one without. Navionics and google maps on a smart phone for backup. The gps only helps finding certain spots. If she fishes with you then it won't matter. The ff  can be transferred when you upgrade your kayak. Go small if you want to save money. Gps adds safety and let's you mark spots and return later. I just fished French Meadows for the first time and I was able to troll following the river bed at the bottom using the gas and map. The aid to navigation helps when you want to paddle the shortest path to a fishing hole, structure, levee break or launch. No wasted paddling since you're always headed in the right direction.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

GPS is so handy.
In fog it's crucial.
When your crabbing you can find your pots!
I like it!

Yea the whole gps mapping is really a deal breaker I think for me as well.  Especially finding offshore reefs up in oregon it makes a world of a difference.
