Tom, you may have to get yourself one of those hobie adventures and keep your feet busy if they
get cold?

do you have a rudder? just messing with the rudder seems to keep my feet active enough I don't
usually suffer from cold feet.

I just got the Sealskinz w/p socks and the NRS Workboots, the boots have a lot of support and aren't too bulky, and the socks look like they'll keep the water out and are breathable.  I'll make a report after a cold go-out.   I have considered using the thin silvery mylar insoles they sell for ski boots that are supposed to reflect heat back to the foot.

W/P Sealskinz/ Workboot combo report: dry, warmer, good suppoert, but still chilly. I guess I'll put some plastic bags over them next time, after I'm out,  and see if that helps. Or just suck it up and figure that if they aren't numb, I'm lucky.

If your boots are too tight they will cut off circulation and your feet will get cold.  If you can fit neoprene socks on your feet inside your boots the boots are probably too big or they're squeezing your feet too much.  Too tight a farmer john can have the same effect.  As I outgrew my medium farmer john I found it made my legs and feet cold, and also gave me acid reflux because it squeezed my stomach enough to force the acid up.

I wear these I got from Sport Chalet for $35 all the time.  Don't seem to notice any significant evaporative cooling. I wear thick wool socks over spandex socks and they keep me pretty cozy.

They're made by Deep See.  I should have bought this model that is $4 more because they have straps to help pull them on in the back and to keep the zipper up:

Has anyone tried out these "boots" by Chota?
http://www.chotaoutdoorgear.com/CyberMerchant/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=31

I came across them at an event this weekend.  I have a pair on order and will let you know what I think about them.  It looks like with the fleece lining in the booties and the breathable uppers, they will keep your feet dry and address the evaporative effect that jmairey brings up.  A bit on the pricey side though.

Those Chota boots look really nice Pole. I probably won't be able to upgrade that high but might go and try on some of the other Mukluk boots they have @ REI. These look like my fav so far.
I think Insaneduane has a similar pair.. got a review on yours ID?
