ganoderma,  can you post a good pic of how the flag is mounted? The picture on the site doesn't show much detail.

Here is a photo of my kayak with the flag mounted. I'll shoot a close-up of the bracket mount and post it later. It's a simple two-hole bracket that you can mount with well nuts. The bracket holds a receptacle, and the flag has a threaded base that screws into the receptacle. It is easy to screw in or remove the flag from the bracket without any tools. I have a Prowler 15 and a Tarpon 160i. In both cases, I mounted the bracket on the floor of the tankwell up against the stern end of the well. It's out of the way, doesn't bump into rods or nets, and can't get knocked loose.

When night fishing you have to have a light and I use an old broom stick and lattern hanging.

I have always been curious how kayaks show up on small boat radars.

When I launch early in the morning - before sunlight, I duct tape glow sticks on the stem of the bike flag. The nice thing about those bike flags is that they sway every time you paddle or when there's a light breeze = so it's consistently "moving"  :smt023

For what it’s worth hear is a cheap way to mount a flag on your milk create.
Flag 4.99 at sports Authority ( thanks Mooch for the tip )
9/32 Brass tube $1.39 ACE hardware
2…….. 1/4 “ wire clamps
2…….. 8/32 bolts w/ lock nuts.

I took the clamp off that came with the pole and chunked it, the pole will fit nicely into the 9/32 brass tube. I also cut about 3 inches off the brass tube. To fit the tube onto the create just grind the plastic at the angle you want until it fits flush with the create then bolt it up. If you need more photos let me know.

nicely done Pat....think I'll mount my similar to yours BUT...since I have some extra pad eyes, I'll line up (top to bottom) 3 and slip the pole in there. It won't be a snug fit but as long as my kayak stays top side, it shouldn't go anywhere  :smt002

What about just running a flag on your spare rod?

Mooch that would work just as good if not better. you can always wrap a small bungee around the pole to keep it in place.

Mickfish that would work to, just Velcro the flag to your spare rod..... done.

Nice holder Pat.

I stopped by my local Sports Authority today. No flags.
Sports Chalet and Toys-R-Us didn't have any either. Actually, T-R-U has some cute little kid flags, but they were the wrong color.

I'll keep looking.

I bought a flag from a website that sells them for ATVs. I havent put it on my boat yet but eventually I plan to. It did come with a really neat holder so it would be easy to take the flag down for surf landings. Its hard to see us kayakers as the swells get bigger too, I think a flag that sticks up about 7 feet, like the one I got would be a big help. I also put some reflective orange stickers on my paddle, which is black and it makes a HUGE difference. Let me know if you want the website links for the stickers and the flags and I'll see if I can dig them up. I think anything we can do to make ourselves more visible is a plus.
BTW the Coast Guards biggest gripe about kayakers is the fact that often times they are really hard to spot, which is why I carry dye and flares in my life vest as well.....I think having a brightly colored kayak is almost a given.

That would be a long drive...I'll find one close to home. There's another S.A in Sac, or I'll try the Sports Mart in Stockton. Drive past it on my way home from work.

Maybe its time to invest in a bright pink, orange, yellow, and red windsuits like mine,
instead of the khaki and navy colored ones. :smt044

White blades on your paddle can be seen extremely well  from a far distance.  They have florescent sticker material you can stick on the pole of your paddle also.

PROTECT YOUR SELF FROM POWER BOATS

All canoers and kayakers know about the Federal Law which requires power boat operators to remove their brain prior to getting in the boat and which also requires Jet-ski operators to have no brain at all. :smt005
