And here's the minor mod that I mentioned---used flat 1/4" starboard instead of the thicker stuff. This is much easier to work with and keep everything aligned better.

I was packing up at SC harbor and someone came up to me with a free trailer offer. It turned out to be a trailex that sat for 10+ years never used. After he sent me some photos I jumped at it and offered him my 29" halibut I caught yesterday on a hail mary for his kind offer.

Thanks Mark for the DIY thread and I will surely steal your idea since I still have the conduits from a previous build that didn't sit well on my malone.

It looks like that's the older style that has rubber "springs" instead of leaf springs. That might actually be better, as the leaf springs on mine got rusty and it was a lot of work to bring them back to life.

Btw, I'm still using that same basic setup, but last year I upsized the wheels to 12" and that required a few additional mods. I think I posted that here too, in case you might be interested.

Thanks I did see you mentioned that but I'm going to not put too much money into this as I have 3 trailers now. Including the yakima which here for $800 if you're interested. You can also drive your adventure home

Holy cow! That's a killer deal, and I'd take it in a heartbeat, except that I'm down with Covid now (2nd day of Paxlovid...) and it's back to work next week, so I don't know when I could get there to pick it up.

Great thread - a buddy and I have AIs that we trailered up in different ways.  Mine utilizes a jet ski trailer which I got on the cheap.  One consideration we both had for ours was to ensure that we had ample tongue weight to mitigate the risk of the trailer fishtailing.  For my set up, I rotate the amas forward towards the bow when transporting on the trailer.  I was more concerned with this aspect over supporting the amas.  It is an extra step to rotate them towards the stern for hand tugging which is pretty much necessary when using scupper wheels for much distance past the de-trailer spot.

So far so good with this arrangement these past 10+ seasons.  Course, i probably now have jinxed myself for some sort problem to crop...
