Mendo is on...Jellyfish on FIRE!!!

Last night the Ukiah posse sat around sampling the grape juice and tried to decide where to go, but nothing seemed to a great bet.  We decided to be lazy and give Mendo a go...turned out to be a good call.

Me, Jelly, Kickinbass, and sspermission bought bait at 0800 and hit the north launch.  As we left the shore Jelly spied big topwater going off in the channel.  We paddled our brains out, but it died before we got there.

We baited up and trolled side by side for a wall of death presentation.  As soon as we got there Darin went bendo.  He landed anice Mendo 8 pounder...

As we head further in Jelly's rod got SLUGGED.  He's getting towed hard and the line is peeling!  He was asking what to do about the drag as he was getting deep in the spool.  I told him to go ez on the drag and add thumbs if needed...he added thumb!

Jelly got towed all around an when he got the fish to color he went nuts.  Jelly doesn't freea out much anymore, so I figured it must be a nice one.  It was a monster!  Jelly lived my dream and broke the 20# mark!!!  His fish was 36.5 inches and 21.7#s!!!! 

Jelly was HAPPY!!!

Then it was my turn.  I went bendo, but as soon as I grabbed the rod I knew it wasn't a striper.  Felt like a beefy LMB.  Turned out to be the best LMB in a long time.  22.5" and about 8 pounds!!

The Darin got a nice SMB, and then I picked up a nice 17.5" smb!  Smallies were on the chew!!!

Jelly went off next, with a solid 18.5 inch LMB...

Darin got another striper and put that one in the tankwell.  The fishing was simply WFO until all of a sudden around 1100 it shut off like a switch.  We went back to our launch and it became apparent what a tank Jelly's fish was...simply huge!!

Darin... I see you had a smokin day too.... congrats!!!

OMG.... I can't get over the size of that Mendo striper.  Although it's still early.... it might likely be the biggest caught this year.

Is Jelly enrolled in the AOTY?

Jelly is enrolled...its gonna be a tough fish to beat!

Hawg of a large mouth and freaking huge striper!!!  Way to go guys, looks like it was a blast.  Were you guys pulling minnows for the stripers?

VERY nice fish Jelly. Way to show up the old guys.  But that LMB ain't nothin' to laugh at.

Can't beat a nice day on the water with a haul like that. Well done everyone.
