Junky and I fished the port today.  We launched at 6 and found it breezy but cool.  The bass weren't plentiful today but I did see some stripers caught on bluegills.  There were a few NCKA members in attendance.  I ended the day with 8 bass to 13 inches all caught on Whopper Ploppers.

Topwater, nice I need to get out there. Did you get a water temp?

Went over there today to paddle around and get some exercise, tossed a line in the water here and there but didn't catch anything unfortunately.

Any recommendations for fishing striper over there? other than cut bait of course.

You can catch them on artifical there too. I have caught them on spinnerbaits, rattle traps etc. I saw a guy catch one on an a-rig a few weeks back. Last weekend I caught this one on a whopper plopper near the boat ramp:

I thought they were "striped bass!" That on in the picture looks like his stripes got bent!  :smt003 Anyway glad to see they are on the top too. Waiting for that to go wide open here in Texas at Texoma. It is supposed to be a riot

Went out again tonight, just got my fish finder installed on my kayak and I wanted to take it for a spin. Lots of bait in the water! Ran Into several Shad schools, fished a little bit and got a truly tiny striper... One for the record books.

Does anyone bass fish in the port in the shallow stuff where the old wrecked structures (or pieces of old barges) are?
