I let my two boys pilot the backup scupper pro I got from thornley.

one paddled. the other sat in the tank well and held the trolling rod. 
I used a seat back set so the paddler kind of sat on the hump ahead of the
seat depression.

they got one! landed it themselves too. I think this was their first
fish believe it or not. certainly their first trout.

I got a crappie and a twin planter myself. released crappie.

marked a number of fish and a lot of fish jumping in the rain and overcast.

probably an easy limit day for somebody that fished from dawn.

we fished from 10 a.m to noon.

Those boys look so proud  way to go J that's what is all about. I bet you had a pretty proud look also. Nice Job Dad.

Way to stay hands off, John.  Much sweeter for them doing it without Dad's help, and I know how hard it must have been to let 'em do it all on their own.

hey thanks for the dad kudos! I don't have 1/10th the patience of the "good" dads,
believe me.

that spot is highly classified blue kayak. a real honey hole.

p.s., I used a "downrigger" to get the crappie. nine feet of cord off a pad eye with a seps release and 2lb weight.
dragged it around for I don't know how long before popping the release and reeling it
in,  .  trout came toplined on worm fragment above a grub behind a dodger.
the worm kept getting short struck. so I pushed the fragment up the line and threaded
a chartreuse grub on the hook.

kids nailed their fish on a kastmaster with worm combo.

I think drifted worms in front of the picnic area would be easy limits right now, those fish are hungry.
empty stomachs.

Looks like a Fathers Day gift that came early. Nice job John.

but mooch, if it makes up for the shameless fishsniffering,
I did use your advice of a single barbless hook for the kid's lure.
very wise!

fuzz, as always your attention to detail is highly appreciated, fortunately
with these two, you only have to give the hint once. sticky brains for these
young guys.

as for us old guys, well, hmm.. what was I saying?
